Co-Evolution Report

On the 27th of September 2023 we hosted a third event in the series of Creating Impact through Enterprise Education. We were delighted to be joined by Lyndsey Alexander, Senior Communications Manager, representing Scotland’s Future Series (SFS). We are immensely grateful to SFS and Geoff Morris, Director of Eden Campus who made this programme possible with their generous funding. Students pitched their ideas to the Directors of Teaching, Directors of Impact, colleagues from the Impact Team and the Assistant Vice-Principal (Dean of Learning and Teaching) and Provost.

The projects presented at the event were:

  • Domestic Abuse Services – evolving into a long-term interdisciplinary project with the School of Computer Science with impact aspirations beyond Scotland;
  • Mental Health Awareness – with a call to join forces, raise awareness and solve the fatal epidemic using university resources (e.g. volunteers) and outreach;
  • Comics for Change – with a growing and enthusiastic team and asking for help in connecting them with Schools to pilot their project;
  • Brain Drain – with students looking for connections with industry partners and internal support to build structures that enable placements;
  • Engage – with students presenting a compelling vision of engaging with local older population and organising intergenerational events.

Participants of the Co-Evolution Event

It is clear that the solutions to big challenges will be more impactful if we work together as a community, embracing diversity, our superpowers and the power of our connections. Although each project is at different stage, students have demonstrated huge enthusiasm and energy for making positive change and are already making good progress towards achieving that goal. We had a constructive dialogue around ideas about how to co-evolve their projects. Huge thanks to everyone who participated in the Programme and Events so far!

If you are interested in collaborating with our students on any of the projects, please get in touch by emailing us on [email protected].

We are driven by a powerful quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has” – Margaret Mead

Our programme depends on our collective generosity and we can only continue if we find enough resources to keep going. If you would like to be a co-creator, sponsor or support us in any other way – please get in touch.

Thank you!
